Rosetta Grate Allegations

Rosetta Grate was presented to the jury as one more victim in a supposed pattern — a vulnerable woman whose testimony helped secure a 20-year sentence against Daniel Holtzclaw. Like several other accusers, Grate attempted to bolster her claim with dramatic physical imagery. Instead, she revealed her story was physically impossible.
 

The Slapping Gun That Could Not Exist
 

Grate testified that while Daniel was thrusting his penis into her mouth, his holstered gun was “slapping her in the face.”

Reality:
 

• Daniel's gun was holstered on his right hip
   

• A rigid holster cannot swing forward

Grate said she wiped saliva and fluid from her mouth onto the chair by her bed.

• DNA from two male contributors

She also claimed she wiped her vagina with a white towel and threw it in the closet.
 

Police searched.
 

No towel existed.

On August 26, 2014, the day before her allegation against Daniel, she was arrested for:

She admitted she made the fake emergency call to divert police attention from her own arrest.
 

The next day she accused Daniel of rape.
 

She had just been arrested for lying to police to avoid consequences.

The result?
 

Declined charges.
 

She walked free.
